i drained the blisters inside my heal this morning and wasn’t going to skate today so my heels could heal. thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow and thursday though, so i got in a quick 8 miles at the last minute. was the first time i’d timed myself on my new skates. i basically took off about 30 seconds per mile – 4 1/2 minutes down from 5. if i could keep that up for 26.2 it would put me barely under 2 hours. i was taking it fairly easy, i need to see what i can do once my feet are better. still pretty slow, eh?
i haven’t mentioned this and i should have. i’m getting not chaffing at all around my ankle bones. in 16 or 17 years of recreational skating i’ve never had a pair of skates that didn’t rub my ankle bones raw. it would take a smarter person than me to tell my why the inside of my heals are rubbing so badly though.
i’d like to skate the katy trail on friday about 4 or 4:30, 21 or 28 miles. any takers?
