i did a short 7-mile skate, again at katy trail, on the way through dallas yesterday. disclaimers: my feet weren’t good (i have a big tender patch on my left foot where i over-tightened the skates last week to make up for their poor fit), and it was 90% humidity. but it was the first time this season i tracked my time, and it was a sad thing. i only averaged 11.2 mph, which would only make me competitive in the under 10 or over 60 brackets.
i do plan to order new powerslide skates next week. maybe there’s hope for me.
i’d really, really, really like to be skating in the round rock (texas) road rash marathon tomorrow. but my skates would kill my feet so it’d be stupid. seriously, i’m walking funny now because my foot is so sore. i should probably stay off my current skates, at least for any distance, so my feet won’t be messed up when the new ones get here.
